NICU Knits

I started this by accident…

Mum needed something to occupy her and help stave off the arthritis she’s starting to suffer from in her hands. I happened across a facebook group https://www.facebook.com/WarmBabyProject2018/ requesting knitted items for premature / newborn babies in various hospitals across the country so I found some patterns, purchased her some wool and off she went. When she was having problems sewing up the items I started to help out with that, and one day asked to have a go.

I’m still very much a beginner but I’ve progressed from very simple small items to slightly less simple ones and now have, cardigans, booties, hats and blankets under my belt.

Some of the patterns are ‘complex’ to my novice ability and these take some concentration but the slightly easier items, or those I’m more familiar with, I find the process of creating them meditative and completing them satisfying. I like to think of all of my creations as perfectly imperfect, as I don’t think I’ve completed anything yet that doesn’t contain a mistake.
